Intranet evaluation, redesign and rebuild

OMERS

OMERS, one of Canada’s largest Pension Plans, wanted recommendations for enhancements to its intranet, named the Ozone, launched seven months earlier.

NetPotential, in association with Gottschalk+Ash International, conducted usability tests and focus groups with managers, content providers and staff to pinpoint and prioritize what was needed. Detailed recommendations were provided that respected the client’s desire to maintain the existing operating platform, and content management tool.

We were then engaged to undertake key recommendations for the next development phase. This included aligning the design with OMERS’ new visual identity; improving navigation and content authoring elements; and developing content; while coaching the new Intranet Editor and collaborating with an IBM programmer on the existing Lotus Notes Domino platform. Ten weeks later, the revamped intranet was launched. Reactions to the changes were very positive, as confirmed by a staff poll on the Ozone’s home page.
