These are the first two pieces of a series (untitled as of yet) that dissects the dynamics of transition, whereby metaphorical elements are suspended in time and space. What happens to seemingly solid boundaries, when the elements they restrain are influenced by external (e.g. gravitational) forces? The interplay of action and reaction between transitioning elements, from passive and resistant through to break-through and release are freeze-framed for contemplation. A sequence of transition will evolve through successive pieces:

Stasis : Equilibrium
    Resting : Supporting
        Nestling : Embracing
         Weighing :Resisting
            Sinking : Displacing
                    Penetrating : Absorbing
                    Rupturing :Releasing

Boundaries, be they the laws of nature or man-made -- such as rules, laws, beliefs, or physical, geographical, or political constructs, are not impermeable indefinitely. They can be stretched to the breaking point, whether through the forces of nature, human faith and will, or through the tides of social and economic change. Boundary transitions do not necessarily arise from sudden or dramatic impact, but under the sheer weight of the forces acting on them.
